BREAKING: Canadian breaks speed record for eating 50 Carolina reapers

  A Canadian man who broke his own world record for the fastest time to eat 50 of the world’s hottest chilli pepper went on to eat 85 more. On Tuesday, Guinness World Records announced that Mike Jack of Canada consumed 50 Carolina reapers, the world’s hottest pepper with 1.64m Scoville heat units, in 6 minutes and 49.2 seconds. For comparison, a jalapeƱo has between 2,500 and 8,000 SHUs. Video posted online by Guinness World Records showed Jack donning a red bandana and gloves as he scarfed down the peppers in front of a blowing fan, at times closing his eyes tightly and breathing heavily. One dead, six in police net as university students fight over girlfriend

A 200-level student of the Computer Science Department at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State simply identified as Abubakar has been confirmed dead following a clash between students over a relationship with a female student. The tragic incident involving eight students of the university was said to have taken place at Darawa quarters, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State on Thursday around 1:20 pm. The spokesman for the state police command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, in a statement on Saturday, said the incident was a result of a heated altercation between the students, which escalated, leading to the death of one of the students involved. According to the statement, the command is taking the matter seriously and is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the facts surrounding the incident. The University of Lagos says it has not started the allocation of bed spaces to students for the 2023/2024 academic session, contrary to reports in some sections of the media. 56,000 Pakistan schools shut over eye virus outbreak

More than 56,000 Pakistan schools will shut for the rest of the week in a bid to curb a mass outbreak of a contagious eye virus, officials said on Wednesday. Millions of students will stay home from tomorrow after Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province, announced blanket closures having recorded 357,000 conjunctivitis cases since the start of the year. NUC approves additional courses for FUOYE study centre

The National Universities Commission has approved two additional courses for the Centre for Continuous Education, Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, Orangesprings News Blog has learnt. The Director, FUOYE CCE , Omolade Adeleke, an associate professor, said that with the addition of Biochemistry and Microbiology, the centre would now offer 24 programmes in the six faculties. Adeleke, in a statement on Wednesday, titled, ‘FUOYE offers admission in 24 courses of its CCE,’ said, “The NUC has approved two additional new courses for the CCE’s Institute of Part-time Studies.
