Key highlights from LASU's 2024/25 matriculation ceremony

  Gideon Adonai  The green leaves made mellifluous melodies of honour into the porches of ears of thousands of elated newly matriculating students of the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, on Tuesday 18th February as the most subscribed university in Nigeria after University of Ilorin celebrated its newest freshers. Orangesprings Blog shares delightful highlights of the event. 12,590, close to last year's figure   LASU admitted more students in its 2023/2024 matriculation than this year's. The tally last year was 12,873, as against 12,590.  The data, taken in comparison against 2022 matriculation number, 6377,  shows that LASU is maintaining a trajectory of growth as the institution conspicuously strove to strike a balance, despite biting inflation and low purchasing power embattling Nigeria and other countries. Gideon Adonai  The Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, (LASU) Professor Ibilola Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, fnli, NPOM on Tuesday disclosed that 12,590 applicants were successfully admitted from over 60,000 applications received in the last University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Orangesprings Blog reliably gathered that over 60,000 candidates made LASU their first choice in the 2024 UTME as the second most subscribed university in Nigeria. The VC spoke at the 2024/2025 Matriculation held on the main campus in Ojo, Lagos. UTME 2025: 94-year-old man registers to pursue full time bachelor's degree

Gideon Adonai   As the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) imposes stricker measures against underage applicants, the registration procedure as taken a surprising turn as, a 94-year-old man, Adedapo Idowu has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This is the first time in the over 40 years of the existence of JAMB that a nonagenarian will be registering for the examination. The nonagenarian, featured on the JAMB’s latest bulletin publication, in which the 94-year-old man quoted as saying his fears of acquiring tertiary education have now been dispelled. “I can now attain my dream at an advanced age,” he said. The elderly man who disclosed that his aim of fulfilling his long-standing aspiration of studying Political Science at the University of Ibadan propelled his action said the process of his UTME registration was seamless. UTME 2025: Underage candidates to face huge consequences - Oloyede

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has warned that strict penalties will be enforced for underage candidates in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration. Speaking to reporters on Friday while monitoring the registration process at various centers in Lagos, Oloyede revealed that out of the 780,202 candidates registered so far, 11,512 are underage. He noted that while JAMB had initially allowed exceptionally brilliant candidates below 16 years to register, the privilege is now being abused. Oloyede said: “We will impose some other penalty on them, that it will have been better for them to have stayed for their time, because they are going to waste their money. “This is the second week, the tenth day of the registration and we have registered 780,202, but surprisingly 11,512 of them are underage. “When you are expecting 30-40, you can see the deceit. 11,512 are indicated as of today, even today...

LASU sensitises young learners on career in transport, logistics studies
