12,590 of 60,000 applicants made it to LASU at 2024/25 matriculation

The Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, (LASU) Professor Ibilola Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, fnli, NPOM on Tuesday disclosed that 12,590 applicants were successfully admitted from over 60,000 applications received in the last University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Orangesprings Blog reliably gathered that over 60,000 candidates made LASU their first choice in the 2024 UTME as the second most subscribed university in Nigeria.
The VC spoke at the 2024/2025 Matriculation held on the main campus in Ojo, Lagos.
She urged the new students to be dedicated to their studies, stressing that they were lucky to be in the institution following stiff competition for admissions.
“A total number of 12,590 were admitted out of over 60,000 applicants that subscribed to the University. Therefore, you must count yourselves very lucky to be among the very few that was admitted. It is on this note that I will advise you to face your studies so as not to lose the huge opportunity of getting University education,” she said.
She urged the students not to keep silent when harassed or assaulted in any manner. “If you see something, say something,” she said.

It is with great pleasure and appreciation to Almighty God that I welcome everyone to the 2024/2025 Matriculation Ceremony for the newly admitted students of our World Class University.
Today’s ceremony officially welcomes the newly admitted students into Lagos State University’s academic programmes, having acquired the requisite qualification and excellence to become bonafide students of our esteemed Institution.
I extend my warmest congratulations to each of you who have been offered admission to our prestigious institution, the University of First Choice. Notably, our university ranks 9th Overall among 298 universities in Nigeria, and has been recognized as the best university in West Africa according to Greenmetrics. Furthermore, best use of Technology (E-Learning) State University, Excellent in Digital Transformation State University.
The VC admonished them to shun all forms of unethical practices, stressing erring students will be dealt with in line with the school’s disciplinary mechanisms.
