Eligibility Requirements

Must apply for and meet entry requirements for a Master’s or Doctorate by research degree at the University of Melbourne


Must intend to undertake graduate research in Human Rights


Must not have completed a research qualification at the same or higher level


Must not have previously received a graduate research scholarship


Selection is based on:


Academic merit


Area of study and commitment to human rights


Strength of supporting documents


Scholarship Values

Living Allowance: AUD $43,500 per year (2025 rate), indexed annually


Paid pro rata


Includes limited sick leave, maternity, and parenting leave


Tuition Fee Waiver:


Up to 2 years for Master’s by Research


Up to 4 years for Doctoral degree


Relocation Grant:


AUD $2,000 for students relocating from outside Victoria (within Australia)


AUD $3,000 for students relocating from overseas


Health Insurance:


Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students
