LASU secures NUC's endorsement for two new courses


The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has been granted approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to establish two new full-time undergraduate programmes.


The two new courses, according to a Friday statement issued by the Deputy Registrar/Coordinator will effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.


The programmes are:
. B.A. Ed. Music Education; and
. B.Ed. Social Studies and Civic Education.


A CIPPR, LASU, top official, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemi made it known.


According to her, the approval was conveyed in a letter dated 17th July 2025, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mr Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, NUC followed a recent resource verification visit to the University by panels of experts tasked with assessing the availability of human and material resources for the proposed programmes.


According to the letter, the approval covers full-time delivery mode only. The NUC urged the University to provide adequate human and material resources to ensure the development and sustainability of the programmes in line with national academic standards.
The approval marks another milestone in the University’s ongoing drive to expand its academic offerings and improve access to quality teacher education.
